News - June 3, 2015 Hi everyone, Exams started this week for lots of students- wishing you all the best of luck, do your best and try not panic! As mentioned in our last blog post we attended Pippa O’Connors relaunch of her website in House on Leeson St in Dublin. We had such a good time and it was great to catch up with Pippa who has previously had Invisalign with us. We were even lucky enough to win a trip to London courtesy of @izestinfluence , cityjet and Q-apartments – amazing!! We can’t wait to go…… With selfies and photo sharing being a daily occurrence getting the perfect smile and angle can be somewhat of an art form in itself. Follow our 5 tips to get that smile down to perfection. No.1 Teeth & Gums Obviously our top tip for the perfect smile would be to have straight, white teeth & nice pink healthy gums. If you aren’t one of the lucky few to be born with perfectly aligned, naturally white teeth then maybe it’s time to do something about it. • Regular hygienist appointments will keep your oral hygiene at a high level and reduce the risk of decay. • Do your homework- Brush, floss and mouth rinse daily. • Straighten your teeth – this will not only make your smile more aesthetically pleasing but it will also make cleaning your teeth a lot easier! With Invisalign, some people won’t even realise you are wearing braces, so smile away in pictures- they actually give your teeth a nice shine! • Whiten those knashers and have sparkling pearly whites. There are so many whitening products on the market these days – book in with your dentist to be assessed for either an in-house treatment or take home trays. No.2 Lipstick can be your best friend. Pick a shade that will enhance the whiteness of your teeth and make that photo ‘ping’ Warm-toned lipsticks will counteract cool tones in teeth & further bring out yellow. Cool-toned lipsticks will counteract warm tones in teeth and make them appear whiter. Shades like cherry red, wine, berry, plum, or rosy pink are the best options. The perfect red- MAC’s “Ruby Woo” NO. 3 Practice makes perfect. Models don’t perfect the ideal poses overnight- it can take work! It was reported in a New York Times interview that supermodel Tyra Banks has 275 different smiles!!!! She states that “Smiles come naturally to me, but I started thinking of them as an art form at my command. I studied all the time. I looked at magazines, I’d practice in front of the mirror and I’d ask photographers about the best angles. I can now pull out a smile at will.” So as cheesy as it may be, practicing in front of the mirror or on your phone will let you see what works best for you. Top tip- Try lifting your tongue up behind your front teeth. This raises your chin ever so slightly & also helps to open up your mouth a bit. NO.4 Be natural!! There’s is nothing worse than a forced fake smile, the most natural poses are the best ones. Smiling gently will mean your face looks more relaxed &your eyes won’t be squinted . NO.5 Watch out for that double chin. Slouching or having your head tilted can make for a very unflattering photo. Instead ,turn your head slightly and drop your chin so your face is not completely square with the camera- and hey presto the perfect shot. Now after all that advice we’re off to practice what we preach….
